Still typing payment instructions to sell your digital products?
15 August 2026 · 7 min read

Right now, in your DMs, someone is asking “bhaiya, notes milenge kya?” or “didi, please share your diet plan”. And you are typing out payment instructions for the fourth time this week. Screenshot of QR code. “Payment done, check karo.” You checking your bank app. Then hunting for the Google Drive link. Then doing the whole thing again tomorrow.
Here is the part that should annoy you. The demand is already there. People are asking to give you money. The only thing missing is a system, and you have been the system. Six steps below, no gyaan, and you can have the first one running today.
Why selling digital products feels harder than it is

Nothing about your product is the problem. The problem is that every single sale currently needs you awake and available. You are the price list, the payment gateway, the delivery service and the support desk, and all four of you work for free. Worse, the sales you lose are invisible. Nobody messages to say they gave up halfway through paying.
Step 1: Sell what people already ask you for
Don’t disappear for three months to build a “flagship course”. Open your DMs and read what people keep asking. Those questions are your product list. A fitness creator’s diet chart. A UPSC mentor’s answer-writing notes. A designer’s Canva templates. A finance educator’s Excel tracker. A 30-minute 1:1 call for the folks who want you, specifically.
Your first product should take a weekend to make, not a quarter. You can always build the big course after twenty people have paid for the small thing, and that is validation no amount of planning gives you.
Step 2: Price it for the people actually buying
Copying dollar pricing is the classic mistake. $29 sounds harmless on Twitter; ₹2,500 for a PDF feels very different to your audience. A rough map that works:
- ₹99 to ₹499. The impulse zone. Notes, templates, checklists, presets. People pay without asking anyone.
- ₹500 to ₹2,000. Needs a little trust. Mini-courses, detailed guides, workshop recordings. Your content is the proof.
- ₹2,000 and above. Needs proof and a payment plan. Full courses and cohorts sell far better when EMI is on the table, because a ₹4,999 course reads as “₹833 a month” instead of a scary one-time number.
And keep one cheap product always. It converts followers into customers, and a customer who paid ₹199 once is ten times easier to sell the ₹4,999 course later.
Step 3: Make UPI the first payment option
Here is the hard truth about checkout. If your buyer cannot pay the way they pay for everything else, whether that is GPay, PhonePe or Paytm, most of them simply will not pay. They won’t email you about it. They’ll just close the tab and forget you existed. International checkout pages asking for card details they do not have is where sales quietly go to die.
Whatever tool you use (yes, Creatly is built exactly for this, with UPI, cards and EMI through Razorpay), the test is simple: can your buyer finish paying in under thirty seconds from their phone? If not, fix that before you fix anything else.
Step 4: Deliver on WhatsApp, not email
Quick question. When did your audience last open their email? Now when did they last open WhatsApp? Right, about ninety seconds ago, and again while reading this. Send the download link by email and half your buyers will message you “kuch nahi aaya bhaiya”, because your beautiful delivery mail is sitting in Promotions, unread, forever.
Delivery on WhatsApp lands in seconds, gets seen immediately, and doubles as a receipt. Pair it with a buyer login so people can re-download whenever they lose the link, and the “link bhej do again” era of your life officially ends.
Step 5: Let Instagram do the selling, on autopilot
The growth loop that works in 2026 is not complicated: make reels about the problem your product solves, and ask people to comment a word such as “NOTES”, “DIET” or “LINK”. Then automation DMs each commenter your product link within seconds, while they’re still on your post.
Done manually, this is a part-time job. Done with AutoDM, it runs while you sleep. It can even ask the person to follow you before the link goes out, and nudge the ones who reached checkout but didn’t pay. Comments become customers; you just keep making reels.
Step 6: Payouts, receipts and tax
- Payouts: know when your money actually reaches your bank. On Creatly it is INR in T+2 days. Whatever you use, it should be days, not monthly cycles.
- Records: every sale should generate a receipt automatically. Your future self (and your CA) will thank you.
- Tax: once the income becomes regular, spend one hour with a CA. We are not going to pretend to advise you here, because thresholds change and your situation is not ours. What we will say plainly is that people who sort this out early spend an hour on it, and people who leave it spend a week on it later, usually in a month when they can least afford the week.
How to sell your first digital product on Creatly
That is the strategy. Here is the actual doing, which takes about ten minutes the first time and two minutes after that.
Step 1: Pick what you are selling
From your dashboard, go to Products, then New. Creatly asks what you are creating, because a download, a course, a call and a membership each need different things from you. For your first product, Digital Product is the one.

Step 2: Set your price and upload the file
Give it a title, write two honest lines about what the buyer gets, set your price, and drop in the file. A compare-at price is optional and shows the discount automatically. The phone preview on the right is exactly what your buyer will see, so you are never guessing.

Step 3: Publish, and send people the link
Switch the product to published and it appears on your storefront at once. That link in your bio is now the whole shop. A buyer taps it, pays by UPI or card, and the file reaches them without you touching anything.

Frequently asked questions
What digital products sell best for creators?
Whatever people already ask you for in your DMs. In practice that means notes and study material, diet and workout plans, design templates and presets, spreadsheets and trackers, recorded workshops, and short 1:1 calls. The pattern that works is small and specific rather than big and comprehensive, because your first product only has to prove that people will pay you.
How do I take payments for a digital product?
Your buyer needs to pay the way they already pay for everything else, which for most audiences means UPI first, with cards and EMI available for bigger amounts. A storefront with checkout built in handles the payment and the delivery together. On Creatly that is UPI, cards and EMI through Razorpay, with the file delivered automatically the moment payment clears.
Do I need a website to sell digital products?
No. A storefront link in your bio does the whole job. Buyers see the product, pay, and receive it without a website existing anywhere. Building a site first is the most common way creators delay their first sale by six months.
How much should I charge for my first digital product?
Under ₹500 is the easiest place to start, because that is the range where people buy without asking anyone. Notes, templates, checklists and presets all sit there. Once twenty people have paid you for something small, you have both the confidence and the customer list to sell something bigger.
What does it cost to start selling digital products on Creatly?
Nothing to start. The Free plan is ₹0 a month with unlimited products, and a 6% fee only when a sale actually happens. Pro at ₹499 a month cuts that fee to 2%, and Pro+ at ₹999 a month takes it to 0% on your first ₹1,00,000 of sales each month. You never pay before you have earned.
The first one is the only hard one
Nobody forgets their first sale. Not the amount, which is usually small and slightly embarrassing, but the feeling. A stranger read something you wrote, decided it was worth money, and paid you while you were doing something else entirely.
Everything in this guide exists to get you to that notification. After it lands, the rest is repetition and slightly better products.
Start this week, not someday
The creators earning from digital products are not smarter than you. They just shipped the small thing while everyone else was planning the big thing. Pick one product from your DMs, price it under ₹500, put it behind one link, and post one reel about it. That’s the whole first move.
If you want the boring parts handled, meaning UPI checkout, WhatsApp delivery, receipts and re-downloads, Creatly does exactly that, and the Free plan costs ₹0 until you actually sell something. Bas, ab shuru karo.
